One year. 52 articles. I don’t think I’ll ever fully understand how quickly a year can pass until I look back and realize just how much can change in 365 days.
When I published the very first article on The Malleable Path, I had no idea what I was creating. Honestly, I barely knew what The Malleable Path was or what my vision was for it. I just knew I had something to say and wanted to share it. I was at my lowest point – my breaking point. The Malleable Path was born because of it.
I was deeply unhappy, and I remember wanting somewhere to put all of the thoughts, perspectives, and opinions that were constantly running through my head. But more than that, I wanted other people to feel less alone.
I wanted to create something that could make someone stop and think. Something that might open their mind to a different perspective. Something that could remind someone that their circumstances don’t have to define or shape the rest of their life.
My initial thought one morning was this – I am depressed and need to get myself out of this. If I can get myself out, then I can help others to do the same. I am going to document it from this perspective. For someone to truly help you, they need to understand what you’re going through and oh boy, did I. Let’s be real, a life coach who lives in Bali and makes internet money isn’t going to understand why a stressed mother of 2 who hates their job can’t just ‘be happy and manifest the life you want.’ The world needed something truly relatable and that’s where I knew I would come in.
I didn’t have a business plan. I didn’t have a five-year strategy. I didn’t know how to run a website. I certainly didn’t know what I was doing with WordPress. I just had to start. And looking back, I’m so grateful that I did. I almost didn’t – WordPress confused the hell out of me. Running a business by yourself felt intimidating. There were a thousand things I didn’t know how to do, and when you’re staring at all of those unknowns at once, it’s incredibly easy to convince yourself that you’re not ready.
But eventually, I realized something: You don’t have to solve all 1,000 problems at once. You solve one. Then the next one. Then the next. You start, and eventually, the confidence comes. That might be one of the biggest lessons The Malleable Path has taught me this year—not just about business, but about life.
52 weeks of showing up
If there is one thing I’m incredibly proud of, it’s my consistency. Before The Malleable Path, if I’m being completely honest, the one thing I was incredibly consistent about was being inconsistent – in multiple areas of my life. But somewhere along the way, publishing every week became non-negotiable. I didn’t skip a week. And it shows me that I am capable of consistently showing up for myself.
Right now, The Malleable Path has 98 subscribers.
And sure, that number isn’t huge. But you don’t need thousands of people watching you to know that what you’re building matters. I’ve been made fun of by coworkers for having a blog. I haven’t always received a ton of external validation. But I kept writing. Because deep down, I know that I love this and I want to be a writer full-time.
I love having a place where I can take the way I see the world, the things I’ve learned, the questions I have, the perspectives I’ve developed, and turn them into something that someone else might connect with. And that’s enough reason to keep going.
The Malleable Path has changed me too. I’ve realized over this past year that writing here helps me, too. It forces me to slow down and makes time feel a little less like it’s flying past me. It makes me stop and actually think about my life instead of simply moving through it. Every article has made me reflect on something—my past, my future, my choices, my goals, my mindset, my relationships with myself and others, and the kind of life I actually want to create.
In some ways, The Malleable Path has become a record of my own evolution. And I think that’s one of the most beautiful parts of it. Because I don’t want to write from a place of pretending I have everything figured out. I’m still figuring it out. I’m still changing. I’m still learning. That is The Malleable Path, after all.
One year later, I have something I didn’t have before: direction
When I started, I had an idea. Now, I have a vision. And that vision has become clearer with every passing month. I can see more clearly how I want this business to operate. I understand more about what I want it to represent. I have a better idea of the kind of content I want to create, the people I want to reach, and the impact I eventually want this platform to have. And I’m incredibly grateful for that evolution. I don’t think I could have figured all of that out before starting. I had to build it to understand it. That’s something I’m learning over and over again: clarity doesn’t always come before action. Sometimes clarity is the result of action.
I envision The Malleable Path becoming one of the most popular self-transformation blogs in the world. I want it to help people. I want it to open minds to fresh perspectives. I want it to encourage people to question the lives they’ve been told they should want and create intentional lives they are actually happy with. I want it to contribute to a better quality of life for the people who find it. That’s a big dream. And I’m comfortable having big dreams.
I don’t know exactly what Year Two is going to look like. I want it to be intentional, bigger, and experimental. I want to let The Malleable Path evolve instead of forcing it into a box just because I think I should already know what it’s supposed to become. Because if there’s one thing this past year has taught me, it’s that the path doesn’t have to be perfectly mapped out. You just have to keep walking.
If I could go back and talk to the version of myself who published Article #1, I would tell her: I’m so proud of you for starting. Keep going and believe in yourself always. And honestly, I would tell myself the exact same thing today. Because one year later, I still don’t have everything figured out. But I do have momentum, perspective, direction, and vision because I started. Let this be your sign to act on your dreams.
So, here’s to Year One of The Malleable Path. 52 lessons and fresh perspectives. Here’s to the version of me who started when she was at her lowest. To every article I’ve written. To every person who has read one. To the 98 people who have chosen to subscribe, to everyone who has encouraged me – THANK YOU! 😊 And even to the people who didn’t understand it—because sometimes you have to be willing to believe in something before anyone else can see it.
Most of all, here’s to whatever comes next. I don’t know exactly where this will take me. But I’m not intimidated by that uncertainty. I’m more excited than ever to see what’s to come.
The path is still being shaped. And that’s the point.
With love,
The Malleable Path.
