Last week, I shared the eight things I’m intentionally leaving behind in my twenties. Letting go was important. But letting go is only half the story. Because once you create space, you make room to receive. That’s the beautiful thing about intentional living.
We don’t just drift through life hoping things work out. We choose the values, mindsets, and habits that shape the person we’re becoming. Every decision, every habit, and every belief either moves us closer to the life we want or further away from it.
It’s been about a month since I turned 30, and I can honestly say I’ve never been more excited to step into a new decade. Not because I suddenly have everything figured out. But because I finally trust myself to build a life that feels true to me.
For years, I thought confidence came from having all the answers. Now I know it comes from knowing who you are and having the courage to live in alignment with that person. Your 30s don’t become your best decade because of your age. They become your best decade because of who you decide to become and from integrating all the lessons you’ve learned thus far.
These are the six mindsets I’m intentionally taking with me into this next chapter.
1. I’m Choosing Deep, Unwavering Self-Love
For a long time, I believed self-love was something you earned. Maybe after you reached a goal. Maybe after you lost the weight. Maybe after you became “successful.” But I’ve realized that’s not self-love at all. Real self-love isn’t conditional. It’s choosing to speak kindly to yourself on the hard days, celebrating your wins without downplaying them. It’s forgiving yourself when you make mistakes instead of letting them define you. It’s recognizing that your worth has never depended on your accomplishments. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized that the relationship I have with myself sets the tone for every other part of my life. When I choose self-love, I make healthier decisions. I set better boundaries, I stop settling. I believe I’m worthy of the life I’m working toward. That doesn’t mean I’ll love every moment. It just means I’ll keep choosing myself anyway. The relationship you have with yourself sets the standard for every other relationship in your life.
2. I’m Choosing Authenticity Over Approval
I’m here to be myself. Not the version that’s trying to impress people or the version that’s trying to fit in. Just… me. There was a time when I cared far too much about what people thought of my decisions and life. Would they question the path I was taking? The truth is, not everyone will understand your life. And they don’t have to. I’ve learned that authenticity attracts the right people while pretending only attracts the wrong ones. I’d rather be misunderstood for being myself than accepted for being someone I’m not. As I build my life, I want every decision to reflect who I truly am—not who I think I’m supposed to be. That’s freedom.
3. I’m Choosing the Courage to Chase My Dreams Unapologetically
No one is going to hand us the life we want. We have to build it. Which means taking chances, trying new things, failing sometimes, learning constantly and never giving up. For me, that means continuing to grow The Malleable Path, saying yes to new adventures, traveling more, and creating a life that I’m happy with —not just one that looks good on paper.
Will everything go according to plan? Probably not. But I’d rather spend my life chasing a dream than wondering “what if?” Dreams don’t become reality because we wished hard enough. They become reality because we consistently showed up for them. Your dream life isn’t built in one giant leap. It’s built every time you choose courage over comfort.
4. I’m Choosing Curiosity and a Love of Adventure
One thing I never want to lose is my sense of wonder. The excitement of exploring somewhere new. Learning something I didn’t know yesterday. And trying something that scares me. Life becomes so much richer when we stay curious (especially with a growth mindset). Adventure doesn’t always mean boarding a plane. Sometimes it’s taking a different route home, reading a book that changes your perspective, starting a hobby you’ve always wanted to try, or having a conversation with someone whose life looks completely different from yours. Every new experience teaches us something—not just about the world, but about ourselves. Personally, travel has become one of the greatest reminders that life is so much bigger than our comfort zones. Every place, every culture, and every conversation expands the way we see the world. I want to explore a lot more during this decade of my life. Because the more I explore the world…the more I discover myself. The world has a way of changing the people who are willing to explore it.
5. I’m Choosing a Growth Mindset
One of the biggest shifts I’ve made is changing the way I look at challenges.
Instead of asking, “Why is this happening to me?”
I try to ask, “What is this trying to teach me?”
That one question changes everything. Not every season will be easy. Not every goal will happen as quickly as we hope. But every experience has something to offer if we’re willing to learn from it. Growth doesn’t come from staying comfortable. It comes from stretching beyond what feels familiar. Looking back, some of the hardest moments in my twenties became the moments that shaped me the most. At the time, I couldn’t see it. Now I wouldn’t trade the lessons they gave me. Growth isn’t always visible while it’s happening. Sometimes you don’t realize how much you’ve changed until you look back and see how differently you think, react, and live. Everything becomes a lesson when you decide nothing is wasted.
6. I’m Choosing Faith in My Own Path
This might be the mindset that brings me the most peace. I’m done believing I’m behind. I’m done measuring my timeline against someone else’s highlight reel. Life was never meant to be lived on a universal schedule – regardless of what society or social media says. We all have different dreams, different circumstances, experiences, and different opportunities. The life I’m building won’t look exactly like yours. And that’s the point. I don’t need to know exactly how every chapter unfolds. I just need to trust the woman who’s writing it.
As I enter this new decade, I’m not chasing perfection. I’m getting aligned. I want my life to reflect my values. I want my choices to reflect my dreams. I want my mindset to reflect the woman I’m becoming.
Intentional living isn’t about having every detail figured out. It’s about waking up each day and asking yourself, “Does the life I’m building today move me closer to the person I want to become?” If the answer is yes, keep going. If the answer is no, you have the power to change direction. That’s the beauty of growth.
My twenties taught me lessons I’ll carry forever. But my thirties aren’t about repeating the past. They’re about building on everything I’ve learned. I know the kind of life I want to build. I know the kind of woman I want to become. Every decision I make from here forward will move me closer to both. Because an intentional life isn’t created by chance. It’s created one choice, one mindset, and one courageous step at a time.
And if there’s one thing I know for certain, it’s this: The best years aren’t already behind us. They’re the ones we are intentionally creating.
